Whitney Mascorro, MD

Dr. Mascorro is a native of Ozona, Texas, graduated from Texas A&M then UT Houston Medical School where she was honored to be initiated into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.  She completed her residency at UT Southwestern – the prestigious Parkland Memorial Hospital, considered one of the finest and busiest obstetrics and gynecology programs in the nation. There she won the prestigious Medicus award “for outstanding clinical care, knowledge, teaching and dedication to compassion and professionalism,” which is given to one exceptional resident each year. She also won the Excellence in Laparoscopy award.  She has been in private practice in Abilene since 2005 and works exclusively at Hendrick Hospital as a board certified Ob/Gyn.

As a woman, wife and mother, Dr. Mascorro has an appreciation for the specific needs of her patients. Obstetrics and gynecology is an extremely rewarding and diverse specialty for her, spanning the care of women from teenage to senior years in both the surgical and medical realms. Dr. Mascorro says a young woman’s first experience at the gynecologist’s office is extremely important in setting the stage for ongoing care. It also is a tremendous opportunity for educating patients. She tries to make the most of the visit in terms of teaching and starting a relationship in which her younger patients feel comfortable talking about their concerns.

Dr. Mascorro has 4 children – Mac, Cooper, Reese and Drew - who keep her very busy when she is not at work.  Also, she has a true love for physical fitness and wellness.  When she is not at work, you can usually find her at the Hendrick Health Club.  She has even been known to deliver a few babies in work-out gear fresh from the gym!  She also enjoys cooking for family dinners and for dinner parties (when she has time)!  On Sundays, Dr. Mascorro really enjoys her fellowship at Southern Hills Church of Christ.  She really brings God into her everyday practice – remembering he is ultimately in charge.  She prays before surgery and before delivering bad news, and she remembers to give praise for the every day and not-so-everyday miracles.  Her husband, Brandon, (aka Superman) who she met at Aggieland, does some real estate adventures and oversees the household.  His background is a high school and college football coach, but for now he has settled with little league coaching to enjoy more time with the family.  +

A life-long resident of the Big Country, Kelli grew up in Merkel and now calls Abilene home. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing in 2005 from McMurry University and Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing. In 2008, she graduated from Abilene Christian University and Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing in 2008 with a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her certification in June 2010 as a Registered Nurse Surgical First Assistant.  She is a member of Texas Nurse Practitioners and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  Before coming to work for Hendrick Provider Network and Abilene Ob/Gyn Associates, she was employed by Hendrick Medical Center in the critical care unit and at Texas Midwest Surgery Center.

When she is not at work, Kelli enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark White and her daughter, Miranda.  The family is very active in outdoor activities including archery, motorcycling, bicycling, and traveling. In addition, Kelli enjoys performing mission work and anything else that keeps her connected to her family.
Kelli developed her interest in women’s health during a clinical rotation with Dr. Whitney Mascorro and knew that she had found her calling!  She is especially proud of the relationships she develops with patients and enjoys getting to know her patients’ needs through active listening.  Because of this, she finds spending considerable time in one-on-one interactions beneficial.

Nurse Practitioners are primary care providers who provide high-quality primary, acute and specialty healthcare services similar to those of a physician. They are registered nurses with specialized advanced education and clinical training. A master’s degree is required for entry level practice. Nurse practitioners bring a unique perspective to health services with a blend of nursing and medical care. Along with clinical services, NPs focus on health promotion, disease prevention, health education and counseling and guiding patients to make better lifestyle and healthcare decisions.
