Randy Daniell, MD
We have been in Abilene since 1984 providing comprehensive women’s health services.
Dr. Daniell is a native Abilenian. In fact, he was born in the very hospital in which he practices, Hendrick Medical Center. He graduated in 1972 from Cooper High School. After one semester at West Texas State University, he returned to Abilene and enrolled at McMurry College (now McMurry University). He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from McMurry in 1976.
Dr. Daniell was accepted at both Texas Tech Medical School and The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (UTMB). He chose UTMB because of its longstanding reputation and its status as the oldest medical school in Texas. While attending UTMB, he made the decision to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Daniell did his internship and residency also at UTMB mainly for the same reasons he chose UTMB for Medical School.
The residency training ended in 1984, and it was then time to look for a place to grow roots. So after eight short years in Galveston, Dr. Daniell decided to move back to Abilene to begin a real job at the age of 30. He has been in private practice here for 21 years since.
Dr. Daniell has been married to Dr. Kathleen Phillipp for the past 25 years. Dr. Phillipp works in the Hendrick Prenatal Clinic seeing underinsured and uninsured obstetric patients. Dr. Daniell and Dr. Phillipp have two grown daughters. Courtney is currently an undergraduate student in the communications disorders program at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. Kimberly graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2004 with a degree in advertising and art history. She currently is employed by an advertising company in Dallas, Texas.
Many outside interests are enjoyed by Dr. Daniell. He enjoys golf, music, movies, reading, and anything computer or electronic related. He also is currently struggling with trying to learn to play guitar. The Daniells also enjoy travel and history but have little time currently to pursue those interests. Dr. Daniell also enjoys gardening and woodworking but as with travel, those hobbies will probably have to wait until retirement.
Dr. Daniell was board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1987 after passing the written and oral board exams. He was recertified in 1997 after taking the recertification board exam. He is currently a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society and the Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has served on numerous hospital committees and continues to serve on hospital committees at Hendrick Medical Center. One of his most important roles, however, is that he is commissioner of his Fantasy Football League.
